Hairstyles for Sarees

Sarees come in a variety of shades and designs.

Although women wear sarees for different occasions, in countries like Sri Lanka and India it’s not uncommon to find women donning the saree throughout the day and going about with their household chores.

Hairstyles are one of the important features which help to bring out the beauty of the saree and its wearer.

Women with long hair who don the saree during the day will have their hair tied in a bun similar to the chignon hairstyle or have it in a single braid. This allows them to do their work more efficiently without having to worry about hair strands falling on their face hence making it difficult to do work.

For evening wear the hairstyle is usually let loose and allowed to flow naturally onto the shoulders.

Tips When Choosing A Hairstyle

When choosing a hairstyle it’s important to consider the shape of your face.

Women with round faces should opt for long hair with soft layers since it reduces the roundness of the face.

If you have a square face choose a short or medium length hairstyle which have bangs over on one side.

A short, long, layered or bobbed hairstyle is recommended for women with oval shaped faces.

How to Care for Newly Pierced Ears

Ear Piercing Tips

It can take between 6 to 9 weeks for your ears to heal once you get them pierced. During this time you have to take special care of your ears. If not it can get infected.

When getting your ears pierced make sure to get it done by a professional to prevent complications later.

Pierce the ears with hypoallergenic studs since these are the ideal types of earrings to be used when piercing ears. Continue to wear earrings that are hypoallergenic for at least 6 months before using the non-hypoallergenic types to prevent any allergic reactions. You should also avoid wearing dangling earrings until 6 to 12 months has passed.

How To Care For Newly Pierced Ears

Your newly pierced ears are easily susceptible to germs and it’s vital you clean them at least twice a day (morning and evening) with a suitable antiseptic prescribed to you from the place you got the ears pierced.

Hydrogen peroxide has been used for some years to clean newly pierced ears. Take a cotton ball and put some hydrogen peroxide in it and gently clean around the piercing on both sides: front and back of the ear.

When cleaning each piercing make sure to turn each earring from side to side. This ensures the antiseptic reaches the pierced opening and prevents germs from getting into it.

You should also make it a point to place your thumb at the back of the ear stud and gently push it forward. Then push the front of the ear stud backwards.  This should be done 2 to 3 times a day to prevent any skin formation on the earrings. There have been cases when skin has grown over the earrings of those with newly pierced ears.

In the event your ears become extremely sore and red and get infected with pus go to the doctor immediately and get it treated.

Ear Piercing Beliefs

In ancient times certain cultures believed by piercing the ears it would prevent demons from possessing their body.

If you've wondered why sailors in the by gone days had one ear pierced well they believed the metal in the earrings had the power to improve or heal their eyesight.

Best Earrings For Sensitive Ears

Earrings made without cobalt and nickel is a good choice for those with sensitive ears as these two metals are noted for causing allergic reactions. Surgical stainless steel earrings plus those made with 14K gold and platinum and titanium are safe to wear.

How to Apply Eye Shadow

History Of Eye Shadow

In ancient times eye shadow was used extensively in EgyptGreece and Rome to enhance the beauty of the eyes.

Today it’s one of the main products manufactured by a wide range of cosmetic companies with L’Oreal, Revlon, Lancôme and Constance Carroll to name a few.

Ancient Egypt was the first civilization to have used kohl to enhance the beauty of their eyes. Kohl as many of you know is the ingredient used today in producing the most sought after pencil eyeliner.

It was only in the 20th century that the eye shadow we use today was first created.

How To Choose Eye Shadow

Two things to keep in mind prior to applying eye shadow is choosing the correct type of eye shadow primer to apply on the eyelids and also the three eye shadow colors which will blend together perfectly.

An eye shadow primer acts as a base to keep the eye shadow on the eye lids for a longer period of time. Always choose a light cream colored primer as there will be a less chance of it clashing with the colors of the eye shadow you apply on the eyelid.

When choosing your eye shadow colors pick colors that are light, medium and dark and make sure the colors co-ordinate with each other. Once you’ve chosen the colors you are ready to apply the eye shadow onto your eye lids.

How To Apply Eye Shadow

First apply the eye shadow primer on to your eye lids with the help of a make up sponge. Dust some translucent powder over the eye shadow primer to prevent it from going down the eye lid.

Then with the help of an eye shadow brush apply the lightest eye shadow color to the entire eye lid including the brow bone.

Next apply the medium eye shadow color along the lower lid of the eye and working all the way to the end of the corner of the eyelid.

Finally apply the darkest color and this should be to the crease of the eye lid.

Once you've applied the eye shadow apply eyeliner and mascara.

How to Apply Eye Liner

History Of The Eye Liner

Many say that using eye liner was first practiced in Ancient Egypt where it was customary for those who were royalty and the common man to use it to decorate their eyes. Another royal person  would always use eyeliner to enhance the beauty of her eyes was Cleopatra the stunning Queen of Egypt.

After the demise of ancient Egypt the eyeliner again gained popularity in the fashion world during the 1920’s and then again in the 1960’s and finally in the 1970’s.

Difference Between Pencil Eyeliner and Liquid Eye Liner

Some women tend to prefer the eye liner pencil over the liquid liner to beautify their eyes.

The eye liner pencil is much easier to spread around the eyes since it can be applied in one stroke but the liquid liner on the other hand requires a steady hand and has to be applied carefully in short strokes.

Pencil eyeliner can be smudged to give an uneven look or a professional look whereas liquid liner can’t although it gives a bolder look than pencil eyeliner.

Liquid liner is ideal for those who wear their makeup for long periods of time since it’s difficult to remove liquid liner unlike pencil eyeliner.

How To Choose An Eyeliner

The right eye liner should enhance the color of your eyes.

Copper, gold, champagne, navy and terracotta colored eyeliners are perfect for those with blue eyes.

If you have dark eyes choose dark shades like black. If you have light colored eyes you can try plums, gold, brown and bronze shades.

How to Apply Lipstick

Beauty Sensation.Com
Before applying lipstick you should first lightly dab the lips and lip line with some foundation. Then use a lip pencil or lip liner and outline the lips. Applying a foundation and lip liner on the lips prior to putting on the lipstick ensures the lipstick will last longer.

How To Choose Lipstick

When choosing the color of the lip liner/pencil make sure to choose a shade which matches the color of your lipstick. You can also use a nude lip liner.

Choose a lipstick which goes with your skin color. Fair skinned women will look good in light shades (beige tones, light corals and light pinks) while dark shades (plums, chocolates, reds, pastels and oranges) are ideal for ladies with a dark skin tone.

For day wear choose lipsticks with a matte and cream finish. For nighttime a lipstick with a high-gloss finish.

How To Get Plump Luscious Lips

If you want plump luscious lips first dab a little lip balm on the lips and exfoliate the lips using a baby toothbrush. Wipe the lips using a soft cloth soaked in cold water. Pat dry.

Next apply a light shaded lipstick with a high-gloss finish. Dark shades with a glossy finish will make lips look smaller.

When putting on lipstick use a lip brush to apply the lipstick on the lips as this will give a more professional look.

How to Get Rosy Lips

Lips just like the eyes enhance the beauty of a person’s face by making it brighter and prettier. But when lips lose its natural pink color and becomes dark chapped and flaky it makes us look older and unattractive.

Smokers and those who use low quality lipstick are at a higher risk of getting dark colored and flaky dry lips than others.

If you no longer have the soft rosy lips you once did then its time you gently exfoliated the skin and moisturized it. You can do this the following way:

Mix ¼ teaspoon of brown sugar with 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil. Gently massage on lips. Leave for a minute and wipe with a soft wet warm washcloth. Do this treatment every night before going to bed.

The brown sugar helps to remove dead dry skin and the olive oil keeps the lips moist and soft.
