What Is Chiffon
Chiffon is made of the following fibers: nylon, silk, cotton, rayon and polyester and since it’s a delicate fabric should be hand washed and not machine washed.
How to Wash a Chiffon Saree
A chiffon saree should be hand washed since this reduces the chances of it being ruined during washing.
Take a large basin of water and fill it ¾ full with lukewarm water. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of baby laundry soap and ½ teaspoon of fabric softener in the water. Soak the saree in it for 2 minutes.
Place another basin under the tap and begin filling it water. Transfer the wet saree into the basin and wash the saree in the water. Gently squeeze out the water and hang to dry on a clothesline.
How To Iron a Chiffon Saree
When ironing a chiffon saree the iron should not be pressed hard on the fabric but done with gentle delicate strokes to prevent the fabric from stretching or tearing plus getting burnt.
It’s recommended a chiffon saree be dry ironed and not with steam since steam ironing can stain the saree.
After ironing your saree always place it on a padded hanger to keep it free from wrinkles.
